Oh baby...

We had our second appointment on March 18th. I thought our last appointment was incredible. How could it get any better than seeing this little baby on the screen with a heart beat? But holy cow, we must have woken the baby up because it was going crazy. It was the coolest thing and I just sat there bawling staring at my child. It seemed like it was saying, ‘mom look at me, look what I can do, look at me, look at me.’ It was crouching down and then it would jump and then curl up in a ball and slide down and do it again. It was on its back then on its tummy then looking right at us. We got a really good frontal view of the baby just staring, kicking its legs. It also was doing things with its hands, moving them back and forth like it was waving at us. Oh… my little angel. I can’t believe it’s only been a week since that appointment. The time is not going by fast enough. I’m sure I’ll wish for the time to slow down once the baby is here, but for now I just can’t wait. We will find out what we are having on April 15th. I can hardly wait. We will get a DVD of the baby squirming around at that appointment. So exciting!! More exciting news, they checked my cyst and it has shrunk considerably. The priesthood is an amazing thing. I am so blessed.

Valentines

Darrik and I decided that since we just went on a cruise and it was just my birthday and his birthday was coming up that for valentines we were going to have a picnic in our family room. No presents, just pizza, pop and a movie. We did all that, but he surprised me with these beautiful tulips. They are my favorite flower. He's such a cutie.

Birthdays...

I've been a slacker lately so I'm going to try an catch up today. My birthday was in February and Darrik's birthday was in March.

Happy Birthday Kami!!

We went to my favorite restaurant Tsunami in Salt Lake for sushi. YUMMY!!!

Darrik surprised me with a new entertainment center for our family room. Good work honey!! I love it. I also got to go shopping, my favorite. It was a wonderful birthday.

Happy Birthday Darrik!!

Darrik's birthday was March 7th. If you read below a little bit, that is the same night as the Rascal Flatts concert that I went to... uh oh! Being the kind, patient man that he is, he didn't have a problem with it. But I knew if it were my birthday and I was staying home while he was out at a concert I'd be pretty upset. I decided that I needed to make it up to him in a big way.

The night before his birthday I let him open one present. A new shirt to wear to dinner. We went to his favorite restaurant Prairie Schooner in Ogden. We had a really nice dinner there, and a nice evening at home after.

The next morning I got up early before work and made him breafast and gave him all of his presents. He mostly got clothes, I love dressing this man. I also got him some lame presents, socks, garments. But who doesn't love new underwear? He felt very loved and I felt okay leaving him home alone on his birthday that night.

We love birthdays at our house. We both got spoiled, as usual, but we have so much fun.

Rascal Flatts Concert

On March 7 my sister Paige and I went to the Rascal Flatts concert. We had a ball. Kelly Pickler opened for them. She did a really good job. She was cute and fun to watch. We loved the concert. We sang at the top of our lungs and danced the entire time. We were on the 8th row, really great seats. Our favorite part was Joe Don Rooney... sooo hot!!!

THE BEST SOUVENIR EVER!

One thing I failed to mention about our cruise, our BMT (baby making trip). It was a success. I’m finally going to be a mommy like so many of you out there. I am 12 weeks along now. Due September 29th. We couldn't be happier.

I had been feeling really tired from the day we got home. Darrik had speculated that I was probably just experiencing jet lag or left over tiredness from our trip. We had partied pretty hard. I also had this insanely happy feeling when we got home. Just content and smiley for no reason. I am some what affected by the weather, especially the sun. I assumed my abnormal amount of happiness had something to do with the fact that we had just spent seven days in direct sunlight. Little did I know I had a new little spirit inside me.

We then had to decide when we were going to tell our parents, family and friends. We were going to wait one month to tell everyone. Two days later I asked Darrik what the big deal was, why couldn’t we tell everyone now? We decided we would tell everyone that Sunday. Paige was getting home from her mission on Saturday and I couldn’t wait any longer to tell. I thought it best not to steal her thunder the day she got home, that we would wait a day to share our good news.

I didn’t want to just say, “hey, guess what? We’re pregnant.” So Darrik and I thought of creative ways to tell our family. We decided to play hang man. I drew two sets of hang man on both sides of a poster board. We started with one that said, “We’re so glad Paige is home.” Kacie guessed the whole thing after two letters were called out. So I flipped the paper over and we began on the back with a new puzzle. This one was a bit tougher, ten words long and the words had many letters as well. They guessed letters and waited as I filled in the blanks. About half of the blanks were filled in, but it wasn’t making sense until the letter ‘N’ was guessed. As I completed some of the words my mom shouted out, “Congrats grandparents and aunts, there’s a bun in the oven.” Everyone looked at me shocked and excited. They stood up, started screaming and ran towards me. My sister’s surrounded me in a group hug. My mom was crying, and my dad was doing the classic bitter beer face, trying not to cry. Everyone was so excited. Cortney especially, she’s been waiting to be an aunt for a long time. It was a very special day and we are so happy to be parents one day very soon!

I had my first doctor's appointment at what I thought was 8 weeks. The doctor confirmed that I was pregnant and that I was 9 weeks and 4 days along, almost 10 weeks. We saw our baby for the first time. A little angel with a big heart. I've heard about this moment, but it's an incredible one to experience. You could totally tell that it was a baby on the screen, you could see a head with a brain, a little body, arms and legs, and tiny little fingers and toes, and a beating heart. What a tender mercy from the Lord. Another thing the doctor found was a cyst on my left ovary. He said not to be too worried about it, but we need to come back in 2 weeks instead of 4 to make sure it's not getting any bigger. If it does get any bigger they will have to remove it. A little scary, but I got a beautiful blessing from Darrik and we know everything will be okay. We are so grateful for this great experience and this amazing journey we are on.

OuR fiRst cRuiSe!

We had the amazing experience of being able to go on a seven day Western Caribbean Cruise for Christmas this year. Cruising the Caribbean was a dream and EVERYTHING we had ever hoped for. We visited Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel Mexico. We saw many beautiful things and creatures; dolphins, iguanas, sunsets, beaches, the ocean, and so many other amazing things. We ate, played, went shopping, ate, swam, took naps, laid out, ate, went to the spa, and ate some more. It was an experience we will never forget. The image you see above is Darrik and me with the sting rays in Grand Cayman. It was so cool, but also so scary.

Here we are with the turtles.

This is us before one of our formal dinners. All dressed up and somewhere amazing to go!! They had the best food on the cruise. Let's just say I came home a little bit heavier than when I left.

This is my new LOVE!! Virgin Miami Vice. It's pina colada and strawberry daiquiri. I think I had one with just about every meal. Soooooo good! :)
