Brock's Blessing

We blessed Brock this last Sunday, December 14, 2008. It was a very special day. Darrik gave him a wonderful blessing, and Brock didn't even poop through his little outfit. (I was so paranoid. I double diapered and double onesied him just to be sure that didn't happen) I'm so thankful for a husband who holds the priesthood. We are so lucky to have him as our husband and father. We love you! And Brock, we are so thankful for all the joy you have brought into our lives. We don't know what we would have done without you. Congratulations on your blessing. Here are some pictures. Thank you to everyone who helped out and also to those who came to support us. We love you!

Brock's First Haircut and nursery pictures!!

I know what you are thinking... Brock is only 2 months old, and you're giving him a haircut? But let me explain. A while ago I scrubbed his head pretty good to get rid of some cradle cap and scrubbed off the top of his hair. The hair that will fall out any way, but I made it come out pre-maturely. So he had this major bad receding hair line. Also there were some bald spots around the back of his head, this super long tuft right in the center like alfalfa, and the beginnings of a mullet. Something had to be done. Besides all that, the new hair that was coming in was coming in super light and I wanted to save some of his cute red hair in a little baggie before it was all gone. So needless to say, I got Darrik's little beard trimmer out and started trimming. I put him in his bumbo chair. He's not quite big enough for it yet, but it worked. He did pretty good. He didn't like the sound that much, but overall it went really well.

See the shaggyness?

This picture is my favorite. Look at that little pouty lip, its about a hundred pounds.

Finished product. Darrik made me leave his alfalfa for a while. But I figured that it would look really funny once all his other hair grew in. So I buzzed it off a few days later. He looks like a totally different kid. But still so cute!

Brock's Room

I'm so embarrassed that it isn't done yet. But here is what we have so far. I am happy with the results. The changing table, accessories and garbage can.

The hamper, crib and toy basket.

The bumbo, glider, book basket, bouncer and messy closet stocked full of diapers and clothes.

You can't really read it, but above the door the wall saying says, "Such a big Miracle, in such a little boy."

And last but not least. My project!! My cute sister-in-law Chelsea taught me and helped me make this wall decoration. I took the pictures in the center and on the top left. The picture on the bottom right I cropped from what Darrik's aunt took of us. The colored squares are scrapbook paper. They are all glued to 12 x 12 pieces of styrofoam and we glued brown ribbon around the edges. I love how it turned out. And I can say I finished at least one project I started, well, just about. I still want to ink the edges of the pictures, but for the most part it's done.

Private Bloggers please don't hate me...

So, I have this enormous problem. I am seriously blogger retarded. Apparently when you receive the email saying, 'so and so has invited you to view their blog...' you are supposed to click on the link and follow the prompts blah blah blah and it takes you to a screen that says 'accept invitation'.... do you get where I'm going with this? I didn't know you had to ACCEPT the invitation. So even after the last post about inviting me to view your blog, I still may not be able to because I didn't know. I totally understand if you think I'm incompetent and don't deserve a second chance, but could you give me one any way? PLEASE!! I guess there is a way you can check if I've accepted your invite or not, or something. I've accepted a couple (by accident apparently), so it isn't everyone, but there are still a bunch. I guess I didn't realize that had to be done in order to keep viewing. If you can find it in your heart to forgive me and send me another invite to view your cute little blogs, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you SO MUCH!! I'm very sorry for this inconvenience. I'll get better at this whole blogger thing. I promise!!

My baby is 2 months old...!!!

STATS

(some are subjective)
Age: 2 months
Weight: 12 pounds 1.5 ounces 75th percentile
Height: 24.75 inches 95th percentile (Who knew I would have a tall kid?)
Head circumference: 15 inches 20th percentile (I thought for sure my boy had a huge head, I guess it just looks big)
Favorite food: milk (Go figure)
Favorite toy: tigger
Best friend: daddy
Favorite color: blue (That is just the color of most of his clothes in his closet)
Favorite story: I love you stinky face
Favorite song: I am a child of God (I sing it to him every night before he goes to bed, he falls right to sleep... most the time)
Favorite body part: his tongue (He sticks it in and out all day long. Some times on command).
Favorite activities: staring into space and smiling and laughing at nothing (We suspect he sees angels, but we're not really sure but it's the cutest thing. He'll talk and coo at the lights and the ceiling forever. I love it), baths, story time, singing time, patty cake, farting, pooping, eating, swinging, sleeping.
Least favorite activities: tummy time (He absolutely hates it, but we do it any way. It's for his own good), burping (For some reason every time I burp him he throws a fit. No idea why?)
Accomplishments: smiling on command, sleeping from 10 PM until 8:30 AM, going through 3 outfits in one day (Spit up, poop, and pee all at my mom's house. Luckily I brought enough clothes), pooping on aunt Paige, getting his 2 month shots and only crying for 30 seconds (Our brave little soldier), holding his head up for 10 seconds, graduating from newborn diapers to 1's. (3 blow outs in one day will make you switch too).
It's hard to believe that Brock is 2 months old. I know it happens, the whole getting older thing, but it's sad. I want him to stay my baby forever. Brock is a really good baby. Like really good. People keep asking me different things about him like, does he have a fussy time (no), do you have to watch what you eat (no), does he sleep through the night (yes), does he have to take anything for gas or reflux or hiccups (no). We are very lucky. No, we are very blessed. I feel bad some times because I think, you are only given what you can handle... so I guess that means I couldn't handle a bad baby? Who knows. But we love him so much, and are so thankful he is in our family.
Here are some pictures from his 2 month appointment:
This is before in the waiting room. He doesn't know he is going to have a rude awakening very soon. Poor little guy.

Waiting for Dr. Pruitt on the comfortable doctor office paper.

Yes, I am a tank. Look at that belly.

24.75 inches long. WOW!!!

Before the shots. Happy and smiling at daddy.

Brock with Dr. Pruitt.

One of the vaccines that goes in his mouth.

Right after the shots. They double team him and give them all at once. It's probably better to get it over with, but so sad. I had to fight the tears. Look at that sad face. I'm definitely a mean mom now for taking pictures of his pain.

The sad face right after.

But not sad for long. He was a trooper. Took it like a champ. Cried for about a minute, Darrik says 30 seconds, and then he was over it. We gave him some tylenol when we got home because he was a little bit more fussy than normal, but for the most part he was his normal happy self. Love this kid!!

More pictures of Brocker:

I'm telling you, he loves milk. Not that he has a choice right now. But this was his first bottle. Downed 5 ounces in 10 minutes. He even will drink a bottle if it is cold. He loves it.

Here he is with his favorite toy. (Brock doesn't really have a preference yet, but I like to pretend. Doesn't he look so content?)

Brock with friends Jordan and Drake.

More friends, Brock, Talmage, Shaylee and Drake.
Brock has so many friends. Here he is with Colby and Lily.

This is how I find Brock most times after his nap. Awake, happy as can be, and his hat off. Just chilling in his crib, talking to him self. So cute! Here he is again after a nap. That is a giggle face. I think he might have my laugh...funny!

I get a little crazy with the camera.

I'm sure he will hate me for this later, but sometimes I like to dress us in matching outfits. Am I totally weird for this? Ha ha ha!!

We have gone shooting a couple times this month and felt it necessary to protect Brock's ears. Good idea right?

Brock with aunt Makell. The two red heads together, aw, special!!
